Emberfall Saga: building a party that survives the first ten hours
The opening hours of Emberfall Saga are deceptively gentle, and that's a trap. The game lets you brute-force early fights, so a lot of players never learn the systems before the difficulty spikes around the third region. I was one of those players.
The fix is to respect the elemental wheel from the start. Every enemy has a weakness, and lining up your attacks against it roughly doubles your damage output. Once I started checking enemy types before committing to a turn, fights that felt impossible became routine.
Bring a dedicated healer earlier than you think you need one. I ran an all-offense party out of stubbornness and paid for it against the first real boss. Swapping one attacker for a support character changed everything.
Don't hoard your skill points either. The game has a cheap respec option, so experiment freely instead of saving points for some perfect build that doesn't exist yet. Trying things out is how you learn which characters click with your playstyle.
By hour ten the game opens up considerably, and if you've built good habits early, that's when it becomes genuinely great.
